ND-2730 and SSD, Kingston memory card, and interval backup
Hi!

I'm planning to buy an ND-2730 backup with an OCZ Petrol SATA III 2.5" SSD 128GB. Can I use this SATA III SSD with te unit?

I'm a wedding photographer, and use 3 pieces of 32GB Kingston Ultimate 600X card. I read in this topic, someone's got problem with this type of card with 266x speed. Do you have any experience with this card?

I use 2 camera bodys, and I shot the wedding preparation, portraits, the ceremony, and the party. Between the sessions I'd like to backup my photos, without erase the memory card. My question is, that the backup unit recognize the previously copied files, and skip them when copying, or the unit makes duplications?

Thanks for response, and sorry for bad english

We don't test the compatibility between ND2730 and the SSD 128GB.

http://www.nextodi.com/support/view.php?bbs=en_faq&id=22
and ND2730 has HW issue with Delkin CF memory cards.

please check the notice.

Thank you.

Tkanks for your response.

Is the backup unit can recognize the previously copied files, and skip them when copying the newest files, or the unit makes file duplications?

It's a very important aspect for me.

Thanks,

the 'incremental copy' will be updated next firmware.
But now, the release date is not fixed.

and also the 'incremental copy' works depends on type of camera.

Thank you

Dear Nexto Support!

We made some conversations before, but after my last question there are no response arrived from your Company. I'm thinking to buy an ND-2730 backup unit for my 2 pieces of Canon EOS 7D bodys, and 3 pieces of Kingston Ultimate 600x 32GB Compactflash memory cards.

My wish list from an ideal backup unit is:

- Canon EOS 7D output RAW file handling
- Kingston Ultimate 600X (90MB/s) 32GB CF memory card support
- Real life 45-70MB/s BACKUP UNIT to PC cpoy speed with this type of card and Firewire 800x port
- SSD support
- Incremental copy function

The ND-2730's promised amazing fast backup speed (70 MB/s with CF cards) and SSD compatibility (no real life physical or magnetic force can damege the SSD's data content) is very important aspect for me.

The 'incremental copy' function is same very important. If the unit can't able to recognize the previously copied files, the data storage will go full charged in very short time, caused by the UNIMPORTANT duplications of the previously copied files.

Your product is very good designed, with amezing functions and function promises (firmware update), leather case, and other nice things. If the incremental copy with 7D and Kingston Ultimate 600x 32GB will work, I buy a unit.

The support was wrote to me: the 'incremental copy' will be updated next firmware. But now, the release date is not fixed.

The update date will near in this summer, winter, or next year? Please give me some long-term planned release date, because in APR 15. 2012 I must have a backup unit for my job. If Nexto will not support these functions till this date, I must choose another product.

Thanks for response,
John

We can't test it with all type of Digital Camera.
so, we have a plan to get the compatibility information with cameras from Beta tester.

and after the test we can release the new firmware.

I'm waiting for the firmware release. Do you have any experience withe Kingston Ultimate 600x 32GB CF card? Because the Kingston card's high power usage, there are some problems in some devices.

Thanks,
John

Dear Woon Jung!

Thanks for your response. My email address is: johnsenepro@freemail.hu

I read some good review in Amazon.com's comment section about the 2730 unit:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A2Y4DKFHT0JL7D/ref=cm_cr_dp_auth_rev?ie=UTF8&sort_by=MostRecentReview

The commenter said, there are incompatibility with Kingston Ultimate 600x, but after firmware update to 1.03 the problem is solved, and he can use the Ultimate CF card.

I'm planning to use the 2730 with SSD. The SSD's power requirement is lower than HDD's. Probably the power issues with HDD is not appear in SDD? I don't know. If your resources can permit, please test the unit with SSD and Kingston 600x 32GB Ultimate CF card.

Thanks for information and support.

Dear Woon!

My 2730 arrived today. It's very professional look, massive, and works fine with my 2 pieces of Canon 7D and all the 3 pieces of Kingston Ultimate 600x 32GB memory card. The incremental copy with the beta firmware is also works perfectly. I'm very happy with the unit.

I use it with 96GB Kingston V+ SSD, and the transfer speed of the cards are near the same:

card1: 62MB/s
card2: 63MB/s
card3: 62.3MB/s

It's amazing fast. I noticed one issue: after the battery discharged, the transfer speed slow down to 10-20MB/sec, and after some testing (in very low battery charge) I get CF Error 1102 with all the 3 cards. After charging the unit it will works again very good.

Thanks again your help, the support, and the development of this amazing great product.
Best regards: John
